Top Six Moments from My Last Walt Disney World Vacation

It seems a case of Post Disney Depression has hit me hard from out of the blue…

To help rid it out of my system, I figured I’d do a fun post reminiscing about my favorite memories from our last Walt Disney World trip from this past October.

A little background…

This was a trip that was several years in the making.  My whole family and I had been trying to plan a trip together for quite some time.  Due to many unfortunate circumstances, we had to reschedule the trip several times over.  Needless to say, when we finally made it down there, it was “Niagra Falls, baby”.

Our group consisted of my family (me, hubby and 2 kiddos), my sister, my nephew and my mom.  Walt Disney World had always been my dad’s favorite place, so we dedicated this trip in memory of him…

So here we go!  The top six memories from our trip, in no particular order:

#1 ~ Just getting there!  As I mentioned, it had been quite a feat to actually make this happen, so when it finally did, it was truly magical!!  This is a pic from when we first arrived at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.  My mom, sister and nephew had flown down before us, and this was the moment we finally caught up with each other.  It was one of the best feelings knowing our whole trip was before us, and we could finally get to experience everything “Together Again“.  Pure joy!

#2 ~ Riding my favorite rides with my favorite people!  There truly is nothing better than having fun with your family at Disney.  Here are my favorite ride photos from our adventures:

This was me on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, trying to look cool. Don’t think I quite succeeded, but at least my nephew did!

Tower of Terror (as indicated by the looks on some of these people’s faces…are you one of them??)

#3 ~ Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!  This was the second time we’ve attended, but this time it was just my daughter and I.  We had a lot of fun even though it was rather rainy.  We met Anna and Elsa, went Trick-or-Treating, and picked up some special trading pins that are only out during the party.  We missed the special Hocus Pocus show that they did this year, so I was a little bummed about that.  But we did get to watch HalloWishes from the back side of the castle, which was quite the experience!  You do have to turn your head back and forth a lot, but I highly recommend trying it at least once.  The fireworks surround you back there.  Makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the magic!  All of this was great fun, but I must say the highlight of the night was meeting Jack Skellington and Sally!  We stood in line for two hours, but it was worth it!  I’m not so sure my daughter agrees, however…

#4 ~ Seeing a celebrity!  In all my years of visiting WDW, this was the first time that I’ve ever crossed paths with someone from TV.  Who was it you ask?  Why, none other than “Ghost Hunters” Dustin Pari!  You must first understand what a huge fan of the show I am.  I have watched it literally since day one.  So, to see someone that has been a part of the show for such a long time was a real thrill for me!  And to top it off, it was at the Haunted Mansion of all places!  Sweet serendipity.  I saw him and stopped mid-stride in complete awe.  It was one of those moments that felt like suddenly time only existed in slow-motion.  Can this really be?!  He was entering the line, and I was just exiting.  Although we didn’t officially meet, he did graciously say hello, as I’m sure he saw my awkward stare.  It wasn’t until I got home and followed him on Twitter that I saw what an amazing person he is.  I highly recommend giving him a follow, as well as picking up one of his inspirational books here.  Very thankful for that encounter!

#5 ~ Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival!  Oh, Food and Wine Festival, how I love thee…let me count the ways!  I suppose it’s pretty self-explanatory.  I love food, and I love wine!  I scour the Disney websites months beforehand to see what offerings they will have.  I make my list, I check it twice…perhaps even three times for good measure.  There are sooo many options, but so little time!  This was our second time for this event also, but we did get to go on two separate days at least (one of them was a date night with my hubby, which made it extra special).  So, with list in hand, we made our way around World Showcase, visiting booth by booth.  This is one thing you do have to pace yourself with.  Too much food or wine (especially wine) and you will be done for the day.  I find that taking frequent breaks just to sit and relax with a bottle of water helps to keep up your stamina quite nicely.  While I didn’t get to everything on my list, I did get a good bit of it in!  Below is just a small sampling of our goodies…nom nom.

Roasted Pork Lettuce Wrap & Grapefruit Sparkling Rice Brew – South Korea

Kielbasa & Potato Pierogi and Frozen Szarlotka- Poland

Crispy Pork Belly – Brazil (my favorite!)

Chicken Sausage – Canada

Loaded Mac n’ Cheese – Farm Fresh Booth

Hard Cider Flight – Farm Fresh Booth

#6 ~ Getting a picture with Mickey!  The ultimate experience on any Disney vacation, of course!  Getting a picture with Mickey and the family = priceless!

So there you have it!  My top six memorable moments from October 2015!  I can’t wait until we are able to get back home again.  Hopefully sometime soon!
