Our Flower and Garden Getaway – Day Three!

At long last, the day we’ve been waiting for has arrived!  I have a lot to cover here, so this may get broken down into a couple different parts.  We’ll see how it goes!

Day Three!  Sunday, April 3rd ~

Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival!!

This was technically the second time we’ve been down during this time, but it really felt more like the first.  Our first time was the first trip with the kids and it was just ending so we didn’t really get to experience much.

We started our day with the usual in-room breakfast and got out to the bus stop around 10am.  It was a beautiful but chilly morning, so we decided to wear our jackets until it warmed up a little.  I was just glad it wasn’t raining!

Our Flower and Garden Getaway – Day Two!

So, I know I said I was still going to call it Downtown Disney but for the sake of being PC…

Day Two! Saturday, April 2nd ~

Disney Springs!!

Since we were only down for the weekend, I had left today open for whatever we felt like doing.  The loose plan was to go to Disney Springs, but the rest would be left up to interpretation.  We had some breakfast in our room and took our time getting ready.  It had started to drizzle just a little by the time we headed out the door.  Luckily I’d brought an umbrella along.

We made our way along the walkway to the Marketplace area.  It was such a scenic, peaceful walk, and only took us about five minutes to get there.  Perfect!

So where to first?!  Why no other than World of Disney of course!  That’s a store I could completely blow our budget in, so I had to really restrain myself.  I did pretty good with only a few small items (my daughter found the BB8 ears she wanted!), and another umbrella.  It was starting to rain harder now…

Our Flower and Garden Getaway – Day One!

One week ago today we returned from our weekend jaunt to our favorite Laughing Place, and I can’t even tell you how much I am missing it already!  So what else can one do but relive the magic and the memories with a new blog post…

Day One! Friday, April 1st – Travel Day!

Today was the day!  We were finally returning to our home away from home!  No April Fool’s jokes here.  We picked up the kids from school at 12:30 and were on our way to Philly International.  Our flight was at 3, so I thought that would be plenty of time to get there.  It’s about an hour drive, so no worries.  Or so I thought!

We got to the toll booth on the turnpike and were about 3 cars back.  A couple minutes went by and I realized we weren’t moving.  Five more minutes went by, still sitting.  What that heck?!  Then we saw the guy come out of his booth to get the plate number of the car that was up there.  Oh no, this can’t be good… Continue reading

Top Six Moments from My Last Walt Disney World Vacation

It seems a case of Post Disney Depression has hit me hard from out of the blue…

someecards-ptsd

To help rid it out of my system, I figured I’d do a fun post reminiscing about my favorite memories from our last Walt Disney World trip from this past October.

A little background…

This was a trip that was several years in the making.  My whole family and I had been trying to plan a trip together for quite some time.  Due to many unfortunate circumstances, we had to reschedule the trip several times over.  Needless to say, when we finally made it down there, it was “Niagra Falls, baby”.

Our group consisted of my family (me, hubby and 2 kiddos), my sister, my nephew and my mom.  Walt Disney World had always been my dad’s favorite place, so we dedicated this trip in memory of him…

So here we go!  The top six memories from our trip, in no particular order: Continue reading

Disney Vacation Club, Explained!

For those of you that aren’t familiar with the Disney Vacation Club, I’d like to take a minute to discuss just what it is and how it works.

Overview

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a point-based time share that allows you to stay at any of the designated DVC resorts using points that you purchase either directly through Disney or through a resale company (more on that later). Continue reading

Memory Maker: Worth the cost?

Cost:  Current price is $149 for advance purchase (must buy at least 3 days before first use), or $169 if purchased afterward.

Past Experience:  In prior years, we always decided to skip purchasing Memory Maker because it just didn’t seem to have enough value for us to spend that extra money on it.  We would still have the photographers take some pictures, and when we got home would just order one or two of our favorites, which cost a lot less than buying the whole shebang.  Plus, I took plenty of pictures with my own camera, so I just didn’t see the need to pay for something so similar to what I had taken.

Then, this year’s big family trip came along.  At the beginning, I hadn’t planned on spending the extra for Memory Maker.  However, a few days before our trip I had a change of heart.  Since this was such a special trip with all of my family going, and something that may not happen again, I wanted to capture as much of it as possible.  So, I decided to give it a try to see if it really was worth it or not.

Features:  One of the first things I noticed was that the shots would show up almost immediately on the My Disney Experience (MDE) app.  Nice!

The next thing I saw was the ability to download and share: Continue reading

Fake Giveaways

So there you are, leisurely scrolling through Facebook, when suddenly you see someone who shared a post for an amazing Disney vacation prize.  You think, “Wow, I would love to win that!! Maybe I should enter.”

WAIT!!  Stop right there.  What many people don’t realize is that this could very well be a scam.  Don’t fall victim to it!  Here are a few things you can look for to see if it’s a fake: Continue reading
